Orthopaedic devices

The expenses of manufacture and adjustment of the orthopaedic devices/technical products (hereinafter – OTP) are compensated in full or in part through the orthopaedic companies that have signed contracts for supply of orthopaedic devices to the insured persons with the National Health Insurance Fund under the Ministry of Health (hereinafter – NHIF).

The insured persons may acquire OTP in the companies that have signed contracts the NHIF in two modes:

1. the orthopaedic companies make and adjust the OTP to the insured persons at their own expenses and later they are compensated from the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (hereinafter – CHIF) according to the basic prices of these products;

2. the insured person purchases OTP and then submits appropriate documents to the NHIF in order to get the reimbursement of his/her expenditure.

The basic prices of OTP are provided in the list of orthopaedic technical products compensated from the CHIF budget and their basic prices approved by the Minister of Health. All the OTP expenses may be compensated from the CHIF budget by 100 or 80 percent.
